On External Triggers and Internal Reactions...

There is often an unawareness to the specific needs that we have...

...especially if those needs are subconscious; needs that are attached to, and grow from experiences. Navigating these needs becomes a crucial part of the healing process. Given the dynamics of the healing process and the required circumstances to bring this process into fruition, this unawareness grows into festering ignorance the more we deny that these subconscious needs and their origins exist.

  • Issues of abandonment, a lack of self-worth, and lack of autonomous self-hood that are created from negative attachments accompanied by negative and traumatic experiences.

  • How does one begin to navigate and address issues or challenges that are subconscious in nature?

The external triggers that bring about internal reactions are useful markers for becoming more aware of these subconscious needs. During times when faced with triggering situations and people, there is an opportunity to reflect on what the body feels vs what the mind thinks.

The awareness of internal reactions to external triggers can create an atmosphere that allows for transformational reflection and addressing of unacknowledged wounds. The wounds that form the basis for how and why we react to external triggers. This offers the opportunity to acknowledge and address wounds from the mindful awareness of external triggers and internal reactions.
